Time to Let the Flowers Bloom

My mural explores the theme of slowness, of taking time to enjoy the small, quiet moments leading up to a desired outcome. A girl lies in a flower bed, reading a book while a caterpillar climbs up her leg; plants grow around her, waiting to bud. On the sides of the main frame, a series of images depict a flower coming to bloom, indicators of growth, alluding to the passing of time. During these times of physical distancing, I want to remind people of the opportunity we have to nurture and care for ourselves and to appreciate the life that continues to grow around and within us.

  • I am a freelance illustrator and mural painter based in Toronto and have broad experience from working with private clients, community-based organizations, city-funded projects and with youth and mentorship. I am interested in projects that promote environmental stewardship and a greater understanding of the ecological systems we are a part of. I use bright colours and bold linework to create compositions based out of personal stories, exploring moments of self- reflection and growth.
