Ryan Longo
A Look Back at A Sculptural Centrepiece

“The Light Within” stood 15 feet tall, twisting toward the sky in a dance of gravity-defying curves, its multicolour light shining and pulsing from within. It was self-powered by an array of solar panels stylized as gigantic wire-frame leaves.

"Art is important in community building because it fills the blank spots with magic and wonder. This helps define the community of who it is, and gives it something to inspire and propel themselves into the future."

- Ryan Longo, Sculptor

Behind the Scenes: When Artists Brought Lakeview Village to Life

We journeyed from forest to water. We soared through the sky into a field of sunflowers. We reflected on the meaning of A Dish with One Spoon. We stood in awe of a glistening sculpture on the hill. We witnessed a creative land acknowledgment. Throughout the lifecycle of this project, we experienced many moments of the art of placemaking.
