Fourteen artists completed a multi-artist mural adjacent to a field of one million sunflowers, sharing “the message they believe the world needs to hear right now” to bring hope, healing and a place for the community to safely connect with art during the pandemic.

“The Light Within” stands 15 feet tall twisting towards the sky in a dance of gravity defying curves, its multicolour light shining and pulsing from within. It is self-powered by the array of solar panels stylized into gigantic wire frame leaves.

The Sunshine Yard, with the Lakeview Container and outdoor seating, is a place for the community to gather and enjoy. It is also a place that supports the growth of local organizations and artists, including our Sunsets and Sounds music series.

The hoarding surrounding the future Lakeview Village Discovery Centre, currently under construction, was transformed by the artwork of 14 muralists, 2 visual artists, 1 painter, and 1 poet. This initiative provided work for local artists, while creating a safe outdoor space for the community to experience and engage with art–all lit up so visitors can stroll by starlight.

A poetic narrative that describes Indigenous life along the waterfront and how the verb-based languages of the various stewards of the treaty area (called "A Dish With One Spoon") were influenced by Mother Nature and the names were adopted by the GTA.

The fox, a spirit animal, invites us to be guided by our wisdom and intuition and listen to our hearts. It has become the totem for Lakeview Village, celebrating and reconnecting us with nature.

The mural explores humanity’s connection to large bodies of water and the calming effect it has on us. It symbolizes our reconnection to the land and water, with the eagle acting as a messenger soaring across time.
